Haunted Locations In Uk

Haunted Locations In Uk Image

Nunnington Hall

Yvette Fielding and the Most Haunted team are in Yorkshire to investigate Nunnington Hall dating from the 13th century and with strong royal connections - it would seem that not one room of the house is without its own ghost or psychic manifestation. Will the team be able to bring these spirits to light during their stay?

Hall I'th Wood

Yvette Fielding and the Most Haunted team are in Bolton investigating a building that boasts myriad tales of multiple haunting - including the ghost of Mary, assumed to be the wife of Samuel Crompton (inventor of the Spinning Mule & a former tenant). Visitors report sightings of a peculiar white mist, a grey lady, strange lights, the sound of footsteps and slamming of doors. Children are said to be particularly sensitive to the spirit of a woman named Betty, who apparently shouts at them to leave! With so much unexplained activity what would the Most Haunted investigation of The Hall I' Th' Wood bring to light?

The Exeter Old Courts

Yvette Fielding & the Most Haunted team are in Devon, investigating Exeter Old Courts with their long and bloody history - many would have been sentenced to death there over the years. It was also the location of the infamous Bideford witch trails which resulted in the last ever hanging for witchcraft in England. Given its fascinating history, which in turn has generated many stories of ghostly sightings, it is little wonder that Most Haunted have chosen to investigate.

The Niddry Street Vaults Script

Yvette Fielding & the Most Haunted team are in Edinburgh to investigate the Niddry Street Vaults where witches, poltergeists and an evil misogynist await. The Vaults damp & dirty walls hold a myriad of supposed sightings and supernatural occurrences which defy explanation. The Most Haunted team are no strangers to Niddry Street and the horrors it holds, having experienced it during their spectacular Edinburgh Halloween Live in 2006. Of course they couldn't resist the challenge of investigating once more, even though it holds their nemesis the chilling circle of stones...

Jedburgh Castle

Yvette Fielding & the Most Haunted team are in Northumberland at Jedburgh Castle - built on the site of the town's gallows and where its medieval castle once stood - the Jail was a classic example of an early Howard reform prison - built to give wrong doers the chance to relinquish their evil ways - however, with the dawn of the Industrial Revolution and the attendant increase in crime, the Jail was adapted to make punishment the order of the day - what attracted the attention of the Most haunted team were the many stories of strange sightings, odd happenings and the sound of phantom pipe music heard in the dead of night. With such a chronicle of paranormal activity how could they pass up the opportunity to investigate?

S.S. Great Britain

The Most Haunted team led by Yvette Fielding are in Bristol to investigate the S.S. Great Britain. Brunel's great nautical triumph was launched in 1843 after four back breaking years of construction. It immediately broke all existing records, described as "the greatest experiment since the Creation". She was both the largest & the strongest ship ever built. By the mid 1800's she was regularly plying to and from Australia carrying thousands of migrants to a new life down under. It is said that many modern day Australians can trace their family line back to those that under took those voyages on this great ship. Conditions were hard and many lost their lives on the long journey. What fired the collective imagination of the team were the many stories of hauntings connected with the ship, from its original conception through its many voyages to its final return, and to be the first to carry out a paranormal investigation on its decks was an opportunity they could not turn down.

Newton House

Yvette Fielding & the Most Haunted team travel deep into the heart of darkest Wales to Newton House where stories of strangulation, suicide & deadly revenge await. The House, dates from the 1600's and stands in magnificent parkland, overlooked by the ruins of the 9th century castle. The site dates back to Roman times and beyond. The land has been fought over since time immemorial and was in and out of the hands of the Rhys family for many centuries as each successive generation found and lost favour with various monarchs. As with most houses of this size and age it passed through many owners and various uses, finally falling into a terrible state of dilapidation - however, the National Trust stepped in and saved it. It now sits in the Trust's top 5 most haunted places - no proper investigation has ever been conducted in the House and the team have been allowed unfettered access - with such a long and diverse history it was crying out for Most Haunted to visit

Madame Tussauds

London is the destination for Yvette Fielding and the Most Haunted team where fear, dread and eerie dopple-gangers await in the most famous tourist attraction in the world. The attraction has a long and diverse history beginning life in France in the 1700's - Marie Tussaud, nee Grosholtz, learnt her wax modelling arts from Dr Philippe Curtius, a physician and skilled wax modeller, for whom her mother was housekeeper. On his death, he left his waxwork collection to Marie. By 1835 she was established in London. "The Chamber of Horrors" became one of the first and most popular attractions. Despite success, Madame Tussaud, gained a reputation for being unsmiling and penny-inching. She died in 1850, but her legacy lived on via her sons. The business continued to prosper and by 1884, her grandsons had moved the exhibit to its current location on Marylebone Road. The stories of paranormal occurrences that cling to the attraction and its many exhibits were reason enough for Most Haunted to come and investigate

Wookey Hole

Somerset plays host to Yvette Fielding and the Most Haunted team as they visit Wookey Hole where as the story goes, a witch was turned into stone. The clashing of cymbals and ancient pagan rituals await. The spectacular series of caverns, 25 of which form the wonderful family visitor attraction, were formed over millions of years by what is now the River Axe which runs out of Wookey Hole and past the Mill, giving rise to the local belief that it flows from deep within the Underworld. They have seen human habitation for over 50,000 years and around 200AD, the Greek diarist Clement of Alexandria described hearing sounds like the "clashing of numerous cymbals" coming from the caves. The Mill has its own share of supernatural apparitions which convinced the Most Haunted team that an investigation of Wookey hole and its surroundings was long overdue.

Ghosts In Downtown Vancouver British Columbia

Ghosts In Downtown Vancouver British Columbia Image
Hi Brian. Seems like Halloween will quickly be upon us. I don't know if you are planning to invite people to write into you re. any ghostly or unusual happenings again this year but a few days ago I recalled an incident which happened to me back in the mid 70's I believe either the summer of 75 or 76. I thought I'd sent it to you a few years back but don't see it listed. I know I did sent it to the late Graham Conway and he was kind of interested but that was all that came of it.

Summer 1975 or 76, approx: 4:05 a.m.

At the time I was working as the security supervisor on the graveyard shift in Pacific Center Mall located in downtown Vancouver, BC. We used to rotate positions each hour. I had just been relieved at the security desk at 4 am and headed out into the mall. At that time of the night the mall was usually deserted so as I passed Holt Renfrew I stopped to admire a jacket which they had on display. The price appeared to be 40. So I had been contemplating coming back on payday and purchasing it. I had only been there for a few moments when a little man came walking out from behind a rack of clothes. He was short, probably less than 5 ft. had reddish hair with sideburns and was wearing a green boller hat and a long green coat with tails and looked for all the world like one of Walt Disney's Leprechauns. At almost the same time as I saw him, he happened to glance my way and looked visibly startled to see me. We stared at each other for a moment and then as I grabbed for my radio he grinned at me and with a little wave of his hand disappeared behind another rack of clothes in front of me, to my left.

I quickly radioed the desk that we had an intruder and to get the police. Within in minutes we had four officers and a dog. I told them what I'd seen and then took them to the back of the store to let them in. I had the guard on the desk report to the Alarm Company that we were entering and then I shut of all the alarm systems. As the officers and I entered the store we couldn't help but notice all the alarm detectors and we all were wondering how anyone could be moving around without triggering them. I took them to where I'd seen the little man and the dog was let loose. It only took a few moments for the dog to check out the store with negative results. While the dog was running around I took a closer look at the coat of my desires. Turned out the price tag had been partially obscured by a fold in the coat and it was 400., not 40. So much for that dream. I let the officers out the rear door and then reset all the alarms and met them back in the mall. They were all shaking their heads and looking at me kind of sideways. I walked them back to the main entrance to the mall and saw them on their way and then after speaking to the guard on the desk returned into the mall. Once again I paused in front of Holt Renfrew and once again the same little man appeared from behind the clothes rack where I'd last seen him.

Again he stopped for a moment and gave me a sly grin and then raised his hand and gave me the famous one fingered salute and then stepped behind the same rack where I'd first seen him. Once again I radioed for the police. The same four officers showed up with the dog and once more we went through the procedure and once more the dog searched the store with no results. By this time even the dog seemed to be looking at me sideways. Once again the officers were looking at me and shaking their heads. I assured them I was not sleepy and had not been hallucinating but they were still shaking their heads as they walked back to their cars. Thank God I did not ever see the little man again while I was working that location.

Thank you to the witness for the interesting story.

Would you like to be a guest on my radio show ? Forest Boy Was Hoax

Forest Boy Was Hoax Image
A Swiss couple have said a boy who emerged from woodland in Germany claiming he had lived wild for the past five years is their grandson.

Now the pair are due to give a DNA test which will be matched with the teenager, Ray, who was dubbed "forest boy" after his story became public.

Berlin's BZ newspaper reported on Friday that Ray's photo was seen by the couple in Switzerland and that they then contacted police.

There was no official comment from authorities in the German capital and no further details in the newspaper report.

Police and social workers began suspecting two weeks ago that Ray's story was bogus and that his motives were suspect.

He is only 17 and now in the care of social workers after a legal guardian to represent his interests was appointed.

If it is found that he comes from Switzerland he will be deported back there.

The blond, blue-eyed boy claimed to remember few details about his life and where he had been when he pitched up on the steps of a town hall in the east of Berlin on September 5.

He spun a tale - in accented English - that gripped the imagination of the world: that he had been living in a tent in a forest for five years with his father, called Ryan, and that his mother Doreen had perished in a car crash five years previously.

He said he began walking towards Berlin after his father died suddenly in the woods a fortnight before his arrival. He said he had buried him among the trees.

"I'm all alone, please help me," he said.

He was taken into care at a cost to the German taxpayer of around lb2,500 per month.

But the tale he wove began to appear to have more holes than a Swiss cheese.

A check of police computers in all 16 states of Germany showed up that no woman called Doreen had died in a car crash in Germany in the past decade.

No sign of a grave has been found in cursory searches of forests in the Harz Mountains, along the Bavarian-Czech border or in Thuringia.

He was unable to pinpoint the forest where he said he lived, he was also unable to say what nationality he was, although police soon suspected he was not British despite the words he spoke.

The tent he carried did not look like it had sustained five years of treatment in a German forest and he was well dressed and clean.

As Interpol was alerted to check with police forces for missing people in other European lands, Ray triggered more suspicion when he said he did not want to pose for photographs or make an appeal to try to find any of his family members.

"They're all dead," he said. "I just want to get on and make a new life for myself."

"Unfortunately it seems that the boy told his guardian that he wasn't interested in discovering who he was," said a police spokesman.

But now the Swiss link is the most promising development so far.

If true, Germany would be in a position to make a claim from Switzerland for money paid towards his upkeep.

Ghost Stories Of Fear Liath

Ghost Stories Of Fear Liath Image
The Fear Liath, also known as the Am Fear Liath Mor, The Big Grey Man of Ben MacDhui, or the Greyman, is a creature said to haunt the summit and passes of the Ben MacDhui. The Ben MacDhui is the highest peak of the Cairngorms, the second highest peak in Scotland, and lies on the southern edge of the Cairngorm plateau.

Descriptions of the Feat Liath portray him as a very tall figure, perhaps ten feet or taller, covered in short hair. Many have compared him to Bigfoot, Sasquatch, or the Yeti. There have been several sightings of the Fear Liath by climbers and also a few photographs of footprints left behind by the creature.

There have been reports of large, hairy creatures roaming the British Isles since the 13th century. Often the creature was referred to as Wudewas or "Wood Men." But, it was in 1925 that the story of the Fear Liath was first told. John Norman Collie was a much-respected scientist, climber, and explorer who had a frightening experience while alone near the summit of the Ben MacDhui, but did not tell anyone for about 35 years. He finally decided to recount his experience with the creature at the 1925 Annual General Meeting of the Cairngorm Club.

When he finally did tell the story, it was terrifying. "I began to think I heard something else than merely the noise of my own footsteps. For every few steps I took I heard a crunch, and then another crunch as if someone was walking after me but taking steps three or four times the length of my own." Collie went on to say as the crunching sound continued, he was "seized with terror and took to my heels, staggering blindly among the boulders for four or five miles" until he reach the Rothiemurchus Forest.

While Collie did not actually see the Fear Liath, he was so spooked by the experience that he resolved never to return to the Ben MacDhui alone, convinced there was a creature on the mountain.

Collie was not the only climber to report this experience. After he told his story, he received a correspondence from Dr. A. M. Kellas. This letter told Collie that Dr. Kellas and his brother Henry were close to the summit when they saw a giant figure approaching. It disappeared in a dip, but scared the men enough that they left before seeing if it would reappear or not.

Many other climbers described the same unshakable feeling of fear and panic that Collie and Kellas felt. Like Kellas, some actually reported seeing a large figure. Many say they have an overwhelming feeling of negative energy around them. Some have even reported the Feat Liath speaking in an incomprehensible voice that vaguely resembles the Gaelic language. This experience is similar to those reported by people who have encountered Sasquatch or Bigfoot, but there may be some explanations. Those feeling they saw the Fear Liath may actually have been seeing an optical illusion known as the Brocken spectre. This can occur on misty mountainsides and appears as a large magnified shadow. It is caused by the sun shining from behind a climber that is looking down a ridge into the mist. The light projects up through this mist and creates the shadow effect that is often triangular in shape, making it look human in form.

While some may discount the Fear Liath as an optical illusion that spooks climbers of the Ben MacDhui, many out there attest that there is a strange presence on the mountain that simply cannot be explained.
