Ufos And Ghosts Lots In Common

Ufos And Ghosts Lots In Common Image
UFO's and ghost hunting; both paranormal focuses, but really very very similar in how we go about tackling them.

The first step in dealing with UFO's is to debunk.

The first step in dealing with ghosts is to debunk.

Explanations for UFOs:

Airplanes/military air vehicles/drones/helicopters

Misinterpreted stars in the daytime sky

Reflections of things on the ground

Clouds

Earth lights

Sprites/jets in the atmosphere

lightning

Explanations for Ghosts:

Banging pipes

Poor night vision

High EMF

Mechanical home issues

Car lights

Sleep issues

People who have had encounters with UFOs and ghosts are often ashamed, baffled, their logic is twisted in knot. They don't want to admit it, but they seek answers incessantly by either looking for more UFOs or ghostly encounters.

Both encounters have nearly impossible to prove roadblocks. You can photograph, record or film UFOs or ghosts and these modalities can be shot down by skeptics.

When pondering the origins of both UFOs and ghosts, the explanations run the gamut. UFOs could include aliens and time travelers, military craft and interdimensional travel. Ghosts are explained by history repeating itself in a loop, spirits of dead people remaining behind and interdimensional travel.

What intrigues me the most about UFOs, ghosts and even Bigfoot is that all three have been blamed on interdimensional visitors. What makes that even more intriguing is that there are places in the world where these things happen in clusters; UFOs, ghostly activity and Bigfoot sightings in short-lived hot spots that change frequently. Should all be explained by a portal for interdimensional beings, it would put a bunch of paranormal activity into one basket.

I have to admit that it's rather funny to me when UFO followers laugh at ghost hunters who laugh at Bigfoot hunters. We truly are all in the same trek, facing the same issues and tossing around the same theories. We might actually help each other more than we realize.

Ghostly Photograph Taken At Execution Site

Ghostly Photograph Taken At Execution Site Image
The Galleries of Justice in Nottingham claims to be one of the most haunted locations in Great Britain.

Scores of highwayman, murderers and thieves were subjected to public hangings from within its walls.

Many modern visitors to the site in Nottingham, now a museum, claim to have witnessed spooky goings-on from flying orbs to strange smells and rattling keys.

Now, a couple has stepped forward claiming to have photographic evidence of a supernatural being haunting the former dungeon.

Christine Spice visited the old prison and courtrooms with her partner Denyer earlier this month and took snaps of what she describes as "an eerie mass of white, like an evil male figure."

The figure is pictured behind a second apparition, which appears to be a small child in some form of period dress, captured on Christine's mobile phone camera.

Ms Spice, from Herfordshire, said: "Denyer and I went on one of the museum's guided tours.

"We are both very spiritual people, and could sense quite a lot of spiritual presence around the building.

"We went to visit the pits and immediately I became very agitated and sensed something really bad and evil.

"I told Denyer I thought we should leave as it was affecting me. I could sense the danger and my breathing and heartbeat became faster - I felt very scared.

"We could smell a musty, rotting smell and was very uncomfortable. I then became so freaked out that I ran out.

"The feeling of evil was so overwhelming. Once outside we looked at the photo and could see a white glow like a huge threatening aura."

There has been a court at the Galleries of Justice since at least 1375 and a prison since 1449.

It is the only place in Britain where criminals could be tried, convicted, and sentenced. Some executions were even done at the entrance of the building.

The Galleries contains the original cells, dungeons, two courtrooms, and several medieval caves, where the photo was taken.

Christine said that after she calmed down, they continued looking around and spent some time looking at all the ID photos taken of prisoners displayed on the walls.

She said: "It was in this room that someone pulled my hair. I turned around expecting to see my brother but there was no one there," she said.

"We could sense spirits all over the building and I would definitely describe the place as being very haunted."

Tim Desmond, chief executive at the museum, said: "The staff at the museum are quite used to experiencing the supernatural on the site, not surprising as it was a place of punishment since the Middle Ages.

"What is interesting is now that people have camera phones we are receiving actual images of what they pick up. Even if you are a sceptic it is very difficult to refute the unusual sights."

Haunted Poland

Haunted Poland Image
Here are a few spooky tales from Poland.

In the small polish town of Przemysl, there sits an ancient castle where so much paranormal activity is happening on a regular basis that staff there refuse to stay watch through the night. Staff have heard the clashing of weaponry behind closed doors, witnessed faucets turning on and off by themselves, heard the sounds of human voices and encountered strange occurrences with the electricity in the castle. The land where the castle now sits was once the ruins of a church and cemetery. Many believe that this could be the explanation for all the paranormal activity. What is not understood is why now? The castle was built on the land centuries ago and there was never anything strange reported until recently.

Hidden deep in the Notecka Forest is a deserted German cemetery. According to my research, it's believed to be one of the most haunted places in the country. Supposedly an entire community of people simply vanished without a trace towards the end of the nineteenth century. All that remains is this creepy overgrown cemetery where strange sounds have been heard late at night. Locals say that German speaking voices have been heard and the ghosts of small children have been seen wandering the forest.

Krakow is also well known for its share of ghosts and strange happenings.

Ghost Detecting Cell Phone

Ghost Detecting Cell Phone Image
"In what may be the single greatest mobile application of all time, the Discovery Channel is offering downloads of a ghost detection program for compatible cell phones. The download is free, as long as you sign up for a subscription to its Most Haunted website.

As any self-respecting ghost buster knows, paranormal investigators say that fluctuations in Electro Magnetic Fields (E.M.F.) are the indicators for paranormal activity. Apparently, this application works by measuring variations in data transmission times to and from your mobile phone, which it takes from fluctuations in the local electromagnetic field.

It's at this point in the post that we're supposed to make a joke about 'Ghostbusters' and the phrase, "Who you gonna call?" -- but we'll spare you."

The Tv Movie That Caused Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

The Tv Movie That Caused Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Image
On Halloween 1992, years before The Blair Witch Project [Blu-ray]" the BBC aired Ghostwatch", which claimed to be a live on-air investigation of a real haunted house. In actuality, the movie was fiction, but it had a real, lasting effect: some children were diagnosed with PTSD after watching the film.

"The program you are about to watch is a unique live investigation of the supernatural," announces the host at the beginning of Ghostwatch. "It contains material which some viewers might find disturbing." And disturbed they were. After Ghostwatch aired, the BBC was flooded with calls from panicked viewers who thought the program was real, and the news media criticized the BBC for its disturbing choice of programming.

But, according to a paper published in the "British Medical Journal", for some children, Ghostwatch was more than just scary; it was genuinely traumatic. The paper was written by two doctors from "Coventry" who claimed to have treated two children for post-traumatic stress disorder that was caused by watching Ghostwatch:

Case 1

This boy had been frightened by Ghostwatch and had refused to watch the ending. He subsequently expressed fear of ghosts, witches, and the dark, constantly talking about them and seeking reassurance. He suffered panic attacks, refused to go upstairs alone, and slept with the bedroom light on. He had nightmares and daytime flashbacks and banged his head to remove thoughts of ghosts. He became increasingly clingy and was reluctant to go to school or to allow his mother to go out without him.

If you think it's ridiculous that kids who watched something scary on TV were diagnosed with PTSD, you're not alone. While plenty of other physicians reported similar cases of Ghostwatch-born trauma, these cases led to a larger discussion about the way the DSM-IV defines certain ailments. Currently, DSM definition of PTSD allows the diagnosis in people who have been "confronted with" traumatic events, which could include a television program. A proposed revision for the DSM-5 would explicitly exclude "exposure through electronic media, television, movies, or pictures, unless this exposure is work related." Either way, when the man on the television set says that viewers might find the events on television disturbing, it's probably time to usher the little ones out of the room.

Even if you're not familiar with the film, you may recall it from the Doctor Who episode Army of Ghosts In the Whoniverse, Ghostwatch is, naturally, a factual television program.

Haunted Costa Rica

Haunted Costa Rica Image
During the last few years, there has been an increased interest in ghost hunting, both in the United States and worldwide. Shows such as Ghost Hunters, Paranormal State and Ghost Adventures-to name just three-have sparked a flurry of spirit seekers to visit locations reputed to be inhabited by people who have traveled over to "the other side." Costa Ricans-expats and locals alike- also seem to have caught the ghost-hunting bug. So the question arises: Where can you find haunted locations in Costa Rica?

Perhaps the best-known location for paranormal activity is located within the shadow of Irazu Volcano. Some 38 miles from San Jose, near Cartago, is the Sanatorio Carlos Duran. Driving from Cartago, as you head toward Irazu, follow the road to the left which heads to Prusia and you will find it there. Dr. Duran felt that the location and the climate would make a perfect place to treat patients stricken with tuberculosis and leprosy and so, in 1915, he built the hospital.

Throughout the years, the sanatorium/hospital was transformed from a medical facility to an insane asylum and, for a time, also served as an orphanage. However, the Colossus of Costa Rica, as Irazu is known locally, decided in 1973 that Dr. Duran's hospital had run out of time. The 1973 volcanic eruption forced the hospital to close once and for all-at least for the living.

Residents in and around Cartago have long reported spectral encounters throughout the hospital grounds. Ghost Hunters International, a spinoff of the popular Ghost Hunters show on the American SyFy channel, made Dr. Duran's sanatorium one of two Costa Rican locales that were investigated. Encounters range from sounds, feelings of sadness, shadow images, and items being tossed out of the patient's rooms. One of the more persistent stories is that of an image of a nun who is seen on the grounds. Perhaps she is tending the sick in the next world, much as she did in this one.

The town of Cartago is also home to a famous ghost tale. In Parque Central, Cartago, you can visit Las Ruinas de la Parroquia -a spot where churches, of one type or another, have stood since 1575. Legend has it that in the 1800s, a young priest fell in love with his sister-in-law and had a scandalous affair. The affair was discovered by his brother, the mayor, who killed the priest in a jealous rage. Soon after the murder, the original church was destroyed during the earthquake of 1841. It was then rebuilt and almost immediately after completion, it was destroyed again in the quake of 1910. An earthquake continually halted all attempts at reconstruction of the church, prompting the townsfolk of Cartago to give up on reconstruction, deducing that the grounds were evil and haunted. Although only the outer walls of the building remain, visitors tell of a headless spirit who continues to roam the church grounds.

The other site, which the Ghost Hunters International team investigated, is San Lucas Island. Though inhabited by various indigenous groups since roughly 1000 A.D., the island is best known for its infamous prison. Prior to its construction in 1873, under the orders of Tom'as Miguel Guardia Guti'erre, it was used by the Spanish as an internment camp for natives who were subsequently killed at the site of their ancestor's burial grounds.

During its tenure, San Lucas had a reputation as both one of the most dreaded prisons in Central America and as the final destination of some of the most horrific criminals in Costa Rica. Murderers and rapists were intermingled with political prisoners and, as might be expected, many perished. There are countless stories of torture and of the suffering of those sentenced there. Among the many ghostly encounters recorded is that of a nurse who was reportedly raped and killed by the prisoners while she was treating them. It is said her ghost can be found in one of the holding cells which has two drawings of a woman-allegedly made with her own blood.

San Lucas is now a national park and there are several tour companies offering the adventurous the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of the ancients and of the ghost hunters.

For those seeking a more inviting location to check out the paranormal, a visit to the beach at Playa Grande is recommended. Rumored to be an ancient burial and ceremonial site of one of the long forgotten tribes who lived in the region, Ticos and non-Ticos alike have reported various ghostly encounters. At the very least, there is the sun, the sand, and the ocean which can certainly compensate for a lack of paranormal activity.

Costa Rica also has its' own version of the banshee. Although she is known throughout much of Central and South America, La Llorona (the Crier) has a unique Costa Rican identity. Maria, (the Crier's name) apparently got involved with someone while she was married and had his child. In despair, she is said to have thrown the baby into the river before taking her own life. She wanders the length and breadth of Costa Rica, usually near water, looking for her lost child and crying a warning to those thinking of having an affair.

Ghost hunting in paradise? Why not? It's just another facet to explore in this green and beautiful land of Pura Vida.

Graveyards Vs Hospitals Which One Has More Ghosts

Graveyards Vs Hospitals Which One Has More Ghosts Image
(Lismore Hospital)

I got asked this question recently and have been pondering it, graveyards are where bodies are stored in the ground yet it is not where people die.. In most hauntings throughout the world ghosts tend to linger around where they die or pass on. So therefore with this theory hospitals should be very haunted.

Hmmm.. What do you think..? Graveyards or Hospitals..?
